UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 26 — In the Kharkiv region, the Russian army attacked the positions of the Ukrainian military 19 times, reported the General Staff.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The General Staff said that over the past day, the Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions four times near Lyptsi and Vovchansk on the Kharkiv axis.

In the Kupiansk direction, there were 15 Russian assaults near Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, and in the direction of Lozova.

On August 23, the “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that, in the direction of Kharkiv, Russian troops were trying to improve their tactical position near Hlyboke and were conducting assault operations in Vovchansk.

According to the military, Russian forces are conducting logistical activities and rotating combat units near Hlyboke. They are also trying to improve their tactical position near Lukiantsi.
