UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, June 24 — In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five Russian attacks near Vovchansk over the past day. The Russians lost 99 troops in this direction, the General Staff reported.
On May 10, Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of tahe Kharkiv region, in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions. Currently, the frontline is reportedly stabilized by Ukraine’s troops, and heavy fighting is ongoing.
The General Staff informs that the Ukrainian troops also destroyed 14 units of Russian military equipment in the Kharkiv direction, including an armored combat vehicle, six vehicles, and three artillery systems.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces repelled nine Russian attacks, General Staff reported. In addition, as of the evening of June 23, two combat engagements were ongoing near Pishchane and Stelmakhivka.
Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Oblast Governor, said the Kupiansk direction is more important to the Russian army now than the offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that in the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops are conducting offensives, trying to break through the defense of the Ukrainian army and capture essential areas or settlements that impact the strength of the Ukrainian defense.
