UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, July 1 —  Russian troops continue to attack in the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions. In total, there were 26 combat clashes on these axes over the day, reported the General Staff.

Russia started their new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The General Staff reported that in the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 16 Russian attacks near Lyptsi, Vovchansk, and Hlyboke.

The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on June 30 that the Russian military recently advanced to the center of Vovchansk, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces surrounded Russian soldiers “of unknown strength” at the city’s aggregate plant.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukraine repelled 10 Russian assaults near Synkivka and Pishchane in the Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.

The Russians hit Kharkiv and Starytsia, Vovchansk, Huriv Kozachok, Lyptsi, Tokarivka Druha, Vesele, Neskuchne, Derhachi, Slobozhanske in the Kharkiv Oblast with air strikes.
