UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul 22 — In the Kharkiv direction, there were 12 combat clashes over the day, with most of them near Vovchansk and Hlyboke, reported the General Staff.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

In the Kupiansk direction, Russians attacked the positions of Ukrainian units 11 times. Defense forces repelled assaults near Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, Berestove, and Hlushkivka, reported the General Staff.

According to the report, the Russians also hit Vovchansk, Borshchova, Lyptsi, Kolisnykivka, Hlyboke, Dekhtiarne, Bilyi Kolodiaz, Mali Prokhody, and Starytsia in the Kharkiv region with air strikes.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that the Russians continued to unsuccessfully attack near Hlyboke with assault groups. They are trying to restore the units that have lost their combat capability.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that Russia is currently preparing assault groups of three brigades for attacks in Vovchansk.
