UKRAINE, KHARKIV REGION, Jul 17 — Over the past day, Russian troops attacked Lyptsi, Vovchansk, Hlyboke, Mali Prokhody, Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, and Veterynarne in Kharkiv region with air strikes, reports General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its morning briefing.
Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)
General Staff reports Russia attempted to advance seven times around Hlyboke and Vovchansk in the Kharkiv direction.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian military tried to break through nine times. There, Ukrainian troops repelled attacks near Synkivka, Andriivka, Pischane, Berestove, and Stepova Novoselivka.
