UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 9 — On August 8, the Russian army hit Zolochiv, Snihy, Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, and Hlushkivka in the Kharkiv region with airstrikes, reported the General Staff.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The General Staff reported that Russians kept up their attacks in the Kharkiv direction. Over the past day, there have been six combat clashes near Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled three Russian assaults near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and in the direction of Hlushkivka.

Over the past day, there were 101 combat clashes along the frontline. Russians carried out 73 airstrikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using 89 glide bombs (KABs). The Russians also fired 4,747 times at the positions of Ukrainian units, with more than 180 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems.
