The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office is accusing of treason a former police officer of the Kupiansk district police department.
During the occupation of Dvorichna village in Kupiansk district, the woman continued to work as a police officer on behalf of the enemy, according to the pre-trial investigation. While working for the National Police of Ukraine, the accused became the “acting senior district police inspector of the department of district police inspectors” in the so-called “Department of Internal Affairs of the Kharkiv Oblast State Administration” under the Russian Federation.
When she took up her new job, the woman created lists of Ukrainian citizens known to her who had served in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone and Security Service of Ukraine officers.
Subsequently, she was promoted to “district police commissioner of the Police Station No. 1 (Dvurechnaya village)”. The accused personally processed applications and reports of incidents. She received a monthly salary of RUB 50,000 for her work.
In late July 2022, the woman obtained a one-year service certificate from the occupation authorities. However, in November, she was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement officers.
The suspect is currently in custody. She could be imprisoned for 15 years or a lifetime with confiscation of property.
