UKRAINE, Dec 11 – The Ministry of Defense has provided the Defense Forces with more than 1.2 million drones of various types in the first 11 months of this year, reported the Ministry of Defense.

Drones of various types became essential in the Russian-Ukrainian war after 2022. Ukrainian troops use them to gather intelligence and track Russian movements. They also help increase battlefield awareness and carry out air strikes with high precision. 

The Ministry of Defense handed over various drones, including 40,000 reconnaissance multirotor drones, more than 12,000 “night” drones, 5,000 reconnaissance aircraft-type UAVs such as Shark, GOR, and Furia, and 6,000 deep strike (long-range) drones, including An-196 Lutyi, Firepoint, and others. 

They also transferred 2,000 reusable strike UAVs, such as Nemesis, Kazhan, and Vampire, 5,000 reusable FPV copters, and 1.1 million FPV kamikaze drones.

The ministry added that it plans to transfer about 100,000 more drones by the end of the year.

On December 6, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that in 2025, the Ukrainian military will receive 30,000 DeepStrike drones capable of operating over long distances. Ukraine’s foreign partners financed some of the drones.
