UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Aug 19 — On August 19, Daniel Kitonie, call sign Cuba, became a new commander of the 13th Khartiia Brigade. Earlier, he led one of the brigade’s units, said the press office of the brigade.
The 13th Khartiia Brigade started to operate in March 2022 in Kharkiv Oblast during the Ukrainian counteroffensive operations and became a part of the National Guard of Ukraine a year after.
Maksym “Altair” Holubok, currently the chief of staff and first deputy commander of Khartiia, handed over the brigade’s flag to the new commander.
“I am aware of the responsibility entrusted to me. I promise to be faithful, to preserve the military traditions, to take care of the personnel and to increase the glory of our brigade ,” said Kitonie, in his first speech.
Over the past day, Russian forces attacked 16 settlements in Kharkiv Oblast with three guided bombs and 16 attack drones, injuring six people.
