UKRAINE, KYIV, Nov 21 – Ukraine’s first training school for operators of unmanned ground robotic systems has been set up at one of the military training centers, reported the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Drones of various types became essential in Russian-Ukrainian war after 2022. Ukrainian troops use them gathering intelligence and tracking Russian movements—they help increase battlefield awareness and carry out air strikes with high precision.

To master the new specialization, General Staff said, the servicemen are trained on about 10 different types of unmannedground robotic systems, including logistics, specialized, and engineering drones.

According to the General Staff, operators learn according to a well-defined learning program and can gain a military specialization afterwards.

“It is extremely important that future specialists have not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills,” the statement of the General Staff said.

On November 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview that for 2025, the state budget allocated $18 billion for domestic orders for drone manufacturing.
