On June 23, the Support Space for Women and Girls officially opened in Kharkiv. The project aims to create a safe place to provide comprehensive assistance to women and girls in a crisis.
Green Landia non-governmental organization, in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) within the Safe Spaces for Women and Girls project, launched four Support Spaces. One is in Kharkiv, the other in the village of Hroly, another in Stary Merchyk, and the fourth in the village of Kochetok. The space in Kharkiv has been operating for a month and a half, but the official opening took place on June 23.
“Many women left alone during the war struggle to cope with the problems and troubles. Here, a woman can get psychological help, legal advice, or spend time together with other women if she needs it,” said the head of the project Valentyna Denysenko.
The Support Space for Women and Girls provides psychological help, legal advice, educational, sports, creative event, as well as hygiene or safety kits, tea, and snacks.
Women can attend consultations by appointment. According to Denysenko, the Space building has a shelter, and the glass that serves as a partition between the rooms and the corridor is armored.
