UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Oct. 1 — “We woke up at 2:00 a.m. to a terrible sound. The windows were broken, and the door was stuck. The roof of my house was also broken. We couldn’t get out. We saw that there was a fire somewhere, but we couldn’t get out,” said Veronika, one of the locals in the Saltivskyi district.
A Russian glide bomb destroyed the house of Veronika’s neighbors. The woman said that no one lives in this house, and the owners are currently abroad.
At about 2:00 a.m. today, the Russian army dropped three glide bombs on Kharkiv, reported local authorities.
Latest reports from the Kharkiv emergency service say the overnight attacks across the Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts injured at least nine people.
Gwara Media’s journalists have been to three impact sites to document the consequences of another Russian attack against civilians.
The Russian night attacks injured three women aged 80, 68, 58, and a woman whose age is being verified. One of them was injured by broken glass, while the others got acute stress reactions. Russians also injured four men, 27, 34, 21, and 25 years old — all of them got explosive wounds, reported Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv oblast.
Later, emergency services said the number of casualties increased to nine.
Russians also damaged 12 houses, cars, and high-voltage lines, said the mayor, Ihor Terekhov.
One of the houses that was damaged belonged to Nadia’s friend. The woman said she couldn’t wait until morning to check how her friend had survived the night.
“The walls were shaking. It was terrible. Inside the house, it was a complete mess. All the windows were broken. The grandson was sitting on the sofa, she (Nadia’s friend) was in tears, it was just awful,” said the woman.
At another impact site, locals said that the glide bomb hit garages, but the blast wave was so powerful that it caused damage to the surrounding area.
“There was an explosion and the windows in the house opened. The house is literally two meters away. The garages were on fire. Cars were damaged. My car’s windows, headlights, and hood were damaged. But the main thing is that everyone is alive,” said Yevhenii, one of the locals.
In the Kyivskyi district, a Russian attack damaged pavilions of “Barabashovo,” one of the largest markets in Ukraine, setting a fire to an area of over 2,800 square meters. Also, the blast wave damaged the entrance to the nearest subway station.
Oleh Syniehubov also said that Russian troops conducted about five missile attacks at energy facilities in the region at night.
Earlier in the day, Russian forces also launched six attack drones on the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. No casualties were reported.
