UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Dec. 24 — Geolocated footage published on Dec. 22 shows that Ukrainian forces have recently advanced south of Zapadne village, located north of Kupiansk, reported the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in its latest assessment.

On Dec. 12, DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group, reported that Ukrainian troops pushed Russian soldiers out of northwestern Kupiansk, trapping remaining Russian units in the center of the city.

Later, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s army, said that Ukrainian forces control nearly 90% of Kupiansk.

Nearly 100 Russian soldiers are remaining in Kupiansk, said Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson of the military group responsible for Kharkiv oblast, during the national telethon.

The ISW also reported about Russian attacks near and within Kupiansk itself, east of the city near Petropavlivka and Kucherivka, southeast of the city near Pishchane and Kurylivka, and south of the city near Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi on Dec. 22 and 23.

On Dec. 21, the ISW said that Russian forces recently conducted cross-border operations in northern Sotnytskyi Kozachok (northwest of Kharkiv, about 15 kilometers east of Grayvoron, Belgorod oblast, and less than half a kilometer from the international border).

On Dec. 23, Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv oblast, said during the press conference that Ukrainian forces killed over 50 and injured over 100 Russian soldiers near the Sotnytskyi Kozachok settlement.
