NEW ZEALAND, AUCKLAND, Dec. 6 — On Dec. 6, Ukrainian top tennis player Elina Svitolina won against Varvara Gracheva from France at the start of the WTA 250 tournament in Auckland, reported Suspilne Sport

The match lasted 1 hour and 17 minutes and ended with Svitolina winning in two sets with a score of 6:3, 6:1.

Svitolina faced Gracheva for the third time in her career and defeated her all three times.

The second round in Auckland could have seen the first face-to-face match of the season between two Ukrainian players. However, Yuliia Starodubtseva started with a defeat to Katie Boulter (3:6, 3:6) — the British player will be Svitolina’s next opponent.

Svitolina wins her first singles match of the year for the third time in a row. The streak began in 2024.
