UKRAINE, Aug 25 — Ukraine’s Supreme Court confirms the verdict for a 40-year-old Kharkiv resident for treason, reports Kharkiv region Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, the man sent coordinates of civilian objects, in particular the building of the Kharkiv regional administration, to Russians. On March 1, 2022, Russians hit the building with two missiles, killing 32 people.

On November 13, 2023, the Kyiv district court in Kharkiv sentenced the man to life imprisonment with property confiscation. He didn’t admit his guilt and sent appeals to many courts, but Ukraine’s Supreme Court confirmed the initial verdict.

Prosecutors say that, from February to April of 2022, the man sent coordinates of civilian objects in Kharkiv to two Russian agents using VKontakte social media, which is banned in Ukraine. He also denied Russian aggression against Ukraine and praised the actions of the Russian military in VKontakte posts.

He was detained in July 2022. Prosecutors add that the Kharkiv resident always changed his statements during hearings and said his VKontakte account was hacked and used by other people.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, he also submitted an inquiry to be exchanged during prisoner exchanges with Russia.
