UKRAINE, KUPIANSK, Dec. 12 — On Dec. 12,  Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, published a video address near Kupinask’s entrance sign, thanking the soldiers who are fighting on this axis.

Zelenskyy added that Russia has repeatedly declared its complete occupation of the Kupinask.

“Today, it is extremely important to achieve results on the front lines so that Ukraine can achieve results in diplomacy,” Zelenskyy said.

Russia intensified its offensive on Kupiansk in summer 2025, entering the city with small assault groups. Their primary goal is to occupy Kupinask and seize Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, a village south of Kupinask, which is an important logistics hub on the left bank of Oskil River.

On Nov. 20, Valerii Herasimov, chief of the General Staff of the Russian forces, claimed that Russia captured the city but Ukrainian forces denied it. On Dec. 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he is ready to provide access to forging reporters to the Kupiansk.

Today, DeepState, the OSINT war monitoring, reported that Ukrainian forces launched a counteroffensive, pushing Russian troops out of the northwestern Kupiansk, and trapped them in the center of the city.

Yurii Fedorenko told Gwara that Ukrainian troops had improved the situation in the city. They stopped Russian infiltration into Kupinask, and now active combat operations are underway in the center of the city.

The press service of the 13th Operational Brigade “Khartia” told journalists that Ukrainian soldiers had liberated Radkivka and pushed the Russians out of several dozen buildings on the outskirts of Kupiansk. The 475th separate assault regiment “Code 9.2,” with the support of the 4th battalion of the 92nd assault brigade, completely liberated the village of Kindrashivka, its surroundings, and the surrounding forests.
