UKRAINE, Aug 8 — On August 6, the State Operator For Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT) signed a memorandum of cooperation with religious communities to adapt halal and kosher field rations, said the DOT press office.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine approved updated technical specifications for daily field rations. They announced the possibility of buying halal and kosher field rations for the military.
Starting in August, the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Crimea and the representative of the Chief rabbi of Ukraine will work with DOT to exchange experience in developing dry rations, hold consultations on the development of the military food system, and organize testing.
“The least we can do for our military is to create comfortable conditions for their combat missions and support their religious beliefs,” said Andrii Sozanskyi, CEO of the DOT.
The DOT said that this initiative is part of the Ministry of Defense’s policy to implement people-centered solutions in logistics thataims to improve the quality and safety of food and protect the rights and freedoms of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, including freedom of religion.
