UKRAINE, Apr 10 — The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine codified and approved the use of a Ukrainian-made evacuation armored vehicle, “Dzhura-EVAK.”
Russia often targets evacuation vehicles, both military ones and those used for evacuating civilians.
“Dzhura-EVAK” is ready to complete tasks in off-road conditions and difficult terrain, writes the Defence Ministry. The capacity to endure difficult terrain is extremely important for transporting the wounded, as roads in Ukrainian regions close to the frontline have been damaged by shelling and transportation of heavy military equipment.
“The manufacturer has improved the car’s chassis, installed reinforced front and rear suspensions, off-road tires, strengthened brakes, etc.” the Ministry’s statement said.
The car can transport six people with the driver and combat medic. It has ballistic protection against bullets, shrapnel, and mine explosions.
“When the enemy uses different weapons to target medics and their vehicles and does not adhere to any conventions, evacuation of a wounded soldier is a difficult, dangerous task,” said Valerii Churkin, deputy Minister of Defence.
“Dzhura-EVAK” has video monitoring, light camouflage to prevent Russian drone attacks, ventilation, air conditioning, and an automatic stretcher loading system.
Yesterday, Ukraine presented a drone designed to intercept Russian Shahed kamikaze drones.
