UKRAINE, KHARKIV REGION, June 24 — Ukrainian troops repelled six Russian attacks in the Kharkiv direction since the beginning of the day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Russia started their new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and Lyptsi (six miles away from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)
The Russian military hit Vovchansk, Hrafske, Tykhe, Ternova, Lyptsi, Zelene, and Ohrimivka in the Kharkiv direction with glide bombs.
A spokesman for “Kharkiv” tactical grouping, Yurii Povkh, said on Ukrainian TV that Ukrainian troops keep destroying Russian military equipment near Vovchansk with artillery and FPV-drones. That’s why, he said, Russians have to attack Ukraine’s positions on foot.
In Kupiansk direction, reports the General Staff, combat clashes are ongoing near Stelmakhivka (82 miles from Kharkiv, 20 miles from Kupiansk), Luhansk Oblast.
The Russian army is most active in Siversk and Pokrovsk directions, the General Staff’s briefing says. Currently, Russia is carrying out 81 attacks across the entire frontline.
