UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 4 — Russian troops attempted to cross the border in Hoptivka border checkpoint north of Kharkiv Oblast, but Ukraine repelled the assault, said said Viacheslav Zadorenko, head of the local military administration.

In the morning, pro-Russian Telegram channels shared fake information about the occupation of Hoptivka border checkpoint in the Derhachi community of Kharkiv region.

Zadorenko debunked it, saying that the assault did happen, but the Ukraine’s  Ukrainian 58th Separate Motorized Infantry had successfully pushed the Russian troops back.

“As a result of this assault, Ukrainian forces killed over 10 Russian soldiers during the fighting. Others went back to Russian territory. People from our community have no reason to panic today,” said Zadorenko in the ether of Suspilne.

He also said that 18 local residents live in Tokarivka, the nearest village to the checkpoint. There are 750 people in the community for now.

In May, Russian troops killed Liubov Shvorak, the assistant of the head of the Tokarivka community, with an FPV drone. Locals buried her in the yard of a private house because of constant Russian attacks on the village.
