UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Sep. 18 — According to the UN and the World Bank Group, the damage caused by Russian aggression in Ukraine already amounts to $589 billion, said the MP from “People’s servant” party Danylo Hetmantsev during the Forum of frontline cities and communities in Kharkiv on Sep. 18.

According to Hetmantsev, 13% of houses in Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed — that is 2.5 million households.

He also said that four million people have become internally displaced. Seven million are refugees. 139 square kilometers of Ukraine are mined.

During the forum, Hetmantsev also discussed some key points in the development of frontline cities’ economies. One is creating a design a support program that would provide insurance against military risks.

Under this program, he said, every business and citizen who wants to insure their property against such risks can apply to a credit agency.

He also said that, because of an increase in state guarantees, the banks would not refuse to issue loans to people in frontline territories and announced the expansion of a program that provides affordable housing loans.
