UKRAINE, Mar. 30 — In March alone, Ukraine’s air defense forces downed at least 2,300 Russian kamikaze drones, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief, said on Mar. 30. He added this was 55% more than in February.
Syrskyi also said that interceptor drones have proven to be the most effective tool against Russian drones, and Ukraine plans to increase their number, particularly those equipped with automatic guidance systems.
At the same time, Russia is ramping up drone production, modernizing its systems, and refining its tactics, he said.
Throughout March, aviation, air defense missile forces, and mobile fire groups were actively involved in intercepting aerial targets. Separate anti-aircraft machine gun units were also used, while Ukrainian helicopters downed 379 Russian kamikaze drones over the month.
Syrskyi added that Ukraine is working to integrate artificial intelligence into its air defense systems, aiming to increase automation across interceptor drones and both airborne and ground-based fire systems.
