UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 30 — On Sep. 28, Russian forces attacked a civilian car in Slatyne settlement located 28 kilometers (17 miles) from Kharkiv, killing a man, injuring his wife and daughter, said Oleksandr Kulik, head of the information department of the Derhachi city council to Gwara Media.
Over the past day, Russian forces attacked five settlements in Kharkiv oblast with one glide bomb and seven attack drones of different types, killing two and injuring three people.
Kulik said that the family was returning home to Prudianka, a settlement near Slatyno, when the Russian drone hit the car.
“They spotted the drone, and the Russians saw them too. The wife and the daughter got out of the car, and the father started to turn around. At that moment, Russians hit the driver’s seat of the car,” he said.
The man died at the spot, and the car started to burn. The numerous fragments after the attack injured a woman. Their daughter didn’t get a physical trauma, but she suffered intense stress.
Locals helped the injured mother and daughter get to the hospital in Kharkiv.
Kulik said that the family didn’t want to go home to Prudianka. They will decide later where they are going to live.
“Overall, the situation in the city is difficult because of constant attacks by Russian FPV drones. We ask people to move out to save themselves,” said Kulik.
Earlier, there have been reports of widespread use of Russian FPV attack drones on the M-03 highway between Izium and Sloviansk.
A soldier working in the Kharkiv region anonymously told Gwara Media that anti-drone meshes should have been installed two years ago. “We have a standard tendency: we start to act only when shit hits the fan,” he said.
