UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Dec. 9 — There are risks of flooding for the settlements in the Chuhuiv district after the Russian attack on the dam of the Pechenihy reservoir, said Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv oblast, during the national telethon.

On Dec. 7, Russian forces attacked the dam of the Pechenihy reservoir in the Chuhuiv district, which led to traffic disruption.

Syniehubov said that if the situation gets worse, around 13,000 people could be displaced, including 3,500 people with limited mobility.

The Pechenihy reservoir is located 45 kilometers (28 miles) north of the frontline, near Kharkiv, and along the Kupiansk axis.

Earlier, Oleksandr Husarov, the head of the village, told Gwara Media that there is no threat of flooding in settlements for now, but it remains a constant possibility.

He also noted that emergency services have updated evacuation plans for various scenarios.
