UKRAINE KHARKIV OBLAST, Jan. 8 — On Jan. 4, the Special Police Regiment evacuated a woman from Kupiansk with the help of a ground drone, said the Special Police Regiment of the Kharkiv region.

Kupiansk, the city in eastern Kharkiv oblast, is still engulfed in fighting. In the middle of December, Ukrainian troops reportedly managed to surround Russians in the city and push them out of its northern parts, though Russian troops are still trying to occupy it and seize Kupinask-Vuzlovyi, a village south of Kupiansk.

A woman contacted the police, asking them to evacuate her from Kupiansk. She said that there is no electricity, gas, or communication in the city.

Police personnel used a ground robot to carry out the operation. It delivered the woman to a Ukrainian-controlled area, where police officers were waiting for her, and then took the woman to a safer place.

On Jan. 6, police evacuated a woman with a child, 12 cats, and three dogs from the village near the Vovchansk community.
