UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Feb.25 — Russian forces use light armored vehicles during their assaults on the Ukrainian positions on the Kupiansk axis, said Vadym Ponka, communication officer of the 14th Mechanized Brigade, to ArmyTV, a Ukrainian military TV channel.
“The situation on the Kupiansk axis was difficult, remains difficult, and will obviously continue to be difficult in the near future,” said Ponka.
The officer noted that Russians usually assault on foot, but they began using quad bikes, motorcycles, and light armored vehicles such as the MT-LB (Soviet multipurpose tracked armored combat vehicle) more actively.
At the same time, Russian glide bombs and attack drones are still one of the biggest threats to the Ukrainian military and civilians who still live in the Kupiansk district.
As of Feb. 19, there are 985 civilians in the Kupiansk community and 436 people in Kupiansk itself, reported Andrii Besedin, head of the Kupiansk military administration, to Kharkiv media Ob’yektiv.
Since Feb. 3, the map made by DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group, has shown that Ukrainian forces liberated the southern part of Kupiansk, while the northern part remains under Russian control.
