UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Dec. 9 — Lieutenant Colonel and second-class pilot Yevhenii Ivanov from Kharkiv died during his combat mission in east of Ukraine, said the 39th brigade of tactical aviation.

During nearly 30 years of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ivanov flew over 200 combat missions on a Su-27 aircraft.

The pilot killed Russian troops in various areas of the front, shooting down air and ground targets, and participating in dozens of complex air operations during his service, says his brigade.

Ivanov was awarded the Order for Courage of Second and Third Class, the Presidential award “For the Defense of Ukraine,” and the Iron Cross medal.

Ivanov is survived by his wife and young son.
