UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jan. 30 — Since the beginning of 2026, Russian forces have attacked Kharkiv oblast with new Italmas drones three times, reported Petro Tokar, the head of regional police, during the ether of Suspilne Ukraine.
An Italmas drone can cross a distance of over 500 kilometers (~310 miles) and carry between 15-27 kilograms (33-60 pounds) of explosives. Tokar said this drone is a smaller version of the Geran-2.
“The only difference is that the engine of Italmas is located at the front part of the drone body,” noted Tokar.
Also, the Kharkiv regional police reported Russians use drones with artificial intelligence to attack civilian cars in the frontline areas in the region.
On Jan. 27, Russian forces attacked a passenger train in the Barvinkove community, killing at least four people and injuring two.
Tokar said the injured were police officers. He also believes that Russians controlled drones remotely, but it was not possible to confirm this based on the debris found.
