UKRAINE, KUPIANSK, Sep. 25 — Russian forces killed 64 Kupiansk locals since the beginning of the year, said Andrii Besedin, head of the Kupiansk military administration, during the national telethon.

Overall, Russians conducted 36,545 shellings of settlements in the Kupiansk district, dropping over 1,300 glide bombs, including 17 FAB-1500 and two FAB-2500.

“The situation is critical. In addition to Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups entering the city, the Russian army is carrying out massive attacks on the community — from mortars and tanks to glide bombs and FPV drones,” said Besedin.

Over the past day, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions eight times. North of Kharkiv, Russians attacked twice near Vovchansk. On the Kupiansk axis, they attacked six times, said the General Staff.

Since the beginning of August, Russian forces have intensified their offensive on Kupiansk. Gwara wrote about reports of Russian sabotage groups entering Kupiansk.

At first, local officials denied that saboteurs were in Kupiansk, saying they have “no such information.”

Later, after Russians installed their flag in Kupiansk, Ukraine’s General Staff wrote that a counter-sabotage operation had been happening in the city. That was the first time military officials confirmed there were clashes with Russian forces in Kupiansk.

In September, our journalists talked with the military about the state of things in and around Kupiansk.
