UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Mar. 25 — On Mar. 24, DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group, recorded the Russian advance near Ambarne village in the Kupiansk district east of the Kharkiv oblast.
Back in February, the Ukrainian military recorded Russian activity along the state border in the Kharkiv region, including Ambarne village, said Viktor Trehubov, a spokesperson for a military group responsible for the Kharkiv oblast, on national TV.
“The Russians’ main goal is to establish a zone of control along the border itself,” said Threhubov back then.
Currently, the Ukrainian military reports that Russian forces keep trying to create a “buffer zone” north of the Kharkiv oblast.
Mykhailo Drapatyi, the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Army, said the “buffer zone” Russians want has to be a 20-kilometer (12.4 miles) wide strip of land near the border in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, which is why they are seizing border villages.
