UKRAINE, KUPIANSK AXIS, Oct. 28 — Russian troops advance near Stepova Novosilka in the Kupiansk direction, reports DeepState, an OSINT war tracking project.

On Oct. 22, footage confirming Russian advance in another section of the Kupiansk axis was published and later analyzed by Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Russia aims to surround and occupy Kupiansk and seize Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, a city to the south of Kupiansk. They plan to use Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi’s railways to simplify the transportation of heavy equipment.
Currently, Kupiansk is closed to everyone except the military, as Russian soldiers have poured into it from the north and northeast in the summer and have recently advanced through the center.
