UKRAINE, Aug 6 — Prosecutors started an investigation into a Russian soldier shooting a civilian who was walking down the street with a suitcase, trying to evacuate from dangerous areas of Donetsk Oblast.
Ukrainian law enforcement recorded over 170,000 war crimes that Russia committed since the Russian full-scale invasion. The General Prosecutor’s Office reports that this is the third case of Russian soldiers executing civilians this year.
According to the investigation, one Telegram channel posted a video of a civilian man trying to evacuate from Udachne village in Donetsk Oblast.
The man was walking along the road with the remains of his things. A Russian soldier was in a ruined building nearby, opened fire, and killed the man with an automatic weapon.
The Prosecutor’s Office said that as of July 31, Russia had killed 15,258 civilians, including 640 children, since the beginning of the fullscale invasion.
“This is the biggest challenge for the international justice system since World War II,” said Andrii Leshchenko, deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Russian attacks also injured over 34,000 people and destroyed or damaged over 235,000 objects of civilian infrastructure.
