UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Mar. 17 — On Mar. 15, the DeepState, an OSINT war-monitoring group, recorded a Russian advance on the Kupiansk axis. Viktor Trehubov, a spokesperson for a military group responsible for the Kharkiv oblast, said to Gwara Media that Russian troops have advanced in the “grey zone” there, attempting to assault toward Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.
“Russians have no control there. We can only say about the movement of their small separate groups,” said Trehubov.
According to DeepState, Russian troops advanced near Pishchane village, 13 kilometers (8 miles) east of Kupiansk. Kupiansk-Vyzlovyi, a settlement to the south of Kupiansk, is an important railway hub for the region which Russia has been trying to seize since its liberation by Ukraine in the Kharkiv 2022 counteroffensive.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War reported about Ukrainian advances north of Kivsharivka, a settlement located south of Kupiansk.
