UKRAINE, KYIV, Aug 28 — During the night strike on August 28, Russia damaged the building where the EU mission to Ukraine’s office is based, said Andrii Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Over the night on August 28, Russian forces hit Ukraine with 629 air attack weapons, including drones and missiles, said the Ukrainian Air Forces.
“This requires not only the EU’s, but worldwide condemnation. We express solidarity with our EU colleagues and are ready to provide assistance,” said Sybiha.
He also added that the Russian attack is a direct breach of the Vienna Convention because they targeted diplomats.
Later, Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said that two Russian missiles hit within 50 meters of the EU office at 20-second intervals. No employees were injured.
She also announced the preparation of a new 19th package of sanctions against Russia.
Russian envoys in Brussels and London were called to explain Russia’s massive attack on Kyiv, said the Ukrainian media Suspilne.
One of the Russian missiles hit a residential building, killing 18 people, including children, said Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration. Rescue operations there are ongoing. People may still be under the rubble.
