UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jan. 20 — Footage published on Jan. 16 and geolocated on Jan. 19 indicates that Russian forces likely seized Dehtiarne village in the Chuhuiv district, said the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Dehtiarne is a village located near the Russia-Ukraine border in the north-east part of the Kharkiv oblast.
Earlier, the Joint Forces Task Force said that Russians attempted to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian forces in Dehtiarne and Kruhle in the Chuhuiv district.
The ISW reported that Russian forces attacked northeast of Kharkiv near Prylipka, Vovchanski Khutory, Kruhle, Nesterne, Dehtiarne, Vovchansk, and Starytsia and toward Symynivka, Izbytske, and Hrafske on Jan. 18-19.
Russians are searching for weak spots in Ukrainian defenses along the border in Kharkiv oblast and are attempting to advance in new areas, including near Dehtiarne, said Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the military group responsible for Kharkiv oblast, to Suspilne Kharkiv.
Trehubov said they are trying to seize settlements on the flanks of Vovchansk, bypassing the city itself.
