UKRAINE, LOZOVA, Aug 5 — At night on August 5, Russians attacked Lozova, a city in the south of the region, killing two and injuring 13 people, including children, said the Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkiv Oblast.
Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv Oblast, told Gwara Media that Russia launched 34 Shahed drones to two locations, one of which is a railway station. The depot and station’s roofs were on fire.
The governor said that it was the most massive attack on the city since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war.
“Our top priority is to remove the damage, clear all the debris, and make sure there are no people under the rubble. After that, we will work to resume train traffic as soon as possible to keep our transportation infrastructure running,” he said.
Gwara Media’s journalists visited the impact site to document the aftermath of the Russian attack.
A Russian attack killed a 55-year-old railway worker. Later, the 71-year-old woman died in the hospital. As a result of the attack, she suffered an extreme stress reaction and died of complications caused by this condition.
Syniehubov said that among the 13 injured people, there were a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.
Russian drones also damaged residential buildings and a power plant.
The attack left almost 80% of people in Lozova without electricity last night, said the regional power company.
“Currently, electricity has been restored in Lozova itself, and there are still settlements in the community without the power supply. I think it will also be restored there in the near future and, as a result, water supply and all other utilities will be renewed,” said Syniehubov.
The governor noted that only civilian infrastructure was damaged, and there were no military facilities.
The Russian attack caused six fires. Administrative, industrial, warehouse, and other buildings, as well as the roof of the station, were on fire.
On July 29, Russian troops attacked Novoplatonivka, a village in the Borova community, hitting a local shop where people gathered to get humanitarian aid.
On August 5, the Prosecutor’s Office reported about another victim of this attack. In the morning, an 85-year-old woman died in the hospital, raising the number of dead to seven.
