UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Dec. 10 — On Dec. 8, Russian troops launched attacked Kupiansk, the city east of Kharkiv oblast, with unknown weapon, killing a 78-year-old man, said Andrii Kanashevych, the head of military administration of the Kupiansk district. 

The day before, Russia attacked the village of Smorodkivka, northeast of Kupinask, injuring a 68-year-old woman. 

On Dec. 7, a Russian strike also injured a 68-year-old woman in the village of Podoly in the Kupiansk district. She was hospitalized at the Kharkiv regional hospital. 

Currently, Ukrainian forces are attempting to push Russian soldiers out of Kupiansk. The primary Russian goal is to occupy the city and seize Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, the important logistics hub.  

Oleksandr Syrskyi, commander-in-chief of AFU, reported that Ukrainian troops improved the situation in the city. On Dec. 9, he also said that Ukrainian counter-sabotage operation in Kupinask is still ongoing.
