UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 11 — Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces launched air attacks on three settlements in the Kharkiv region, killing one person and injuring five, including a child, said Oleh Syniehubov, governor of the Kharkiv oblast, and the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In Kupiansk, a Russian FPV drone attacked an 18-year-old man. A 64-year-old civilian man in the city also sustained leg injuries after stepping on an explosive device.
In the settlement of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, a Russian attack killed a man and injured two women, aged 49 and 57.
Kupiansk is the largest city east of the Kharkiv region and an essential logistics and transportation hub in Kharkiv Oblast. Since 2024, Russia has attempted to reoccupy the city.
On August 8, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russian forces intensified offensive operations in the Kupiansk direction over the recent months. Ukrainian officials confirm that the situation in Kupiansk is difficult.
In Kozacha Lopan, within the Derhachi community, Russian air attacks injured a 67-year-old woman. Russian attacks also injured a 15-year-old boy in the village of Pishchane.
In the village of Tsupivka, also in the Derhachi community, Russian shelling damaged a private house.
Authorities report that Russian forces deployed two FPV drones and one Molniya drone to carry out the strikes in the Kharkiv region.
