UKRAINE, DEC 5 — Ukrainian defenders fought off four attacks of the Russian army near Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka on the Kupiansk axis, reported the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their morning briefing. 

In the Slobozhanskyi direction, the Russian army maintains a military presence in borderlands, conducts diversions to hold Ukrainian troops to the location, and prevents them from relocating to other directions. They also continue to build up mine-explosive barriers along the border in Belgorod Oblast.

According to Colonel-General Syrskyi, the commander of Ground Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops try to advance near Synkivka of Kupiansk district to seize it and block Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vyzlovyi. Russians used these towns as logistics and transportation hubs during the occupation in 2022.
