UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Feb. 6 — Russian forces occupied Dehtiarne village in the Chuhuiv district, reported DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group.
Dehtiarne is a village located near the Russia-Ukraine border in the northeast part of the Kharkiv oblast.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that footage published on Jan. 16 and geolocated on Jan. 19 indicates that Russian forces likely seized Dehtiarne.
Since the beginning of the year, Russian forces have attempted to use their advantage in numbers and break through the defenses of the Ukrainian forces in northern Kharkiv oblast, including Dehtiarne and Kruhle villages.
In northern Kharkiv oblast, Russians attacked Ukrainian positions near Hrafske, Prylipka, Vovchansk, Starytsia, and Vovchanski Khutory and toward Symynivka on Feb. 4 and 5, reported the ISW.
Strong frosts make it difficult for Russians to advance more than one or two kilometers in the Kharkiv oblast, said Viktor Trehubov, a spokesperson for a military group responsible for the Kharkiv oblast, to Suspilne Ukraine.
According to Trehubov, subzero temperatures complicate drone usage, freezing drone blades and fiber-optic cables.
At the same time, he said that such weather helps Ukrainian drone operators to spot Russians more easily.
