UKRAINE, ZOLOCHIV COMMUNITY, Jan 2 — On January 1, the Russian army dropped seven glide bombs on Zolochiv hromada (community) in Kharkiv Oblast, said Viktor Kovalenko, the head of Zolochiv village administration, to Gwara Media.
Russia often attacks settlements of the community—as well as other areas of Kharkiv Oblast close to the border or frontline with glide bombs and drones, killing civilians and destroying civilian, critical infrastructure.
Russia dropped the first glide bombs between 2:50 and 3:05 p.m. — they hit open areas near Petrivka and Udy villages. There hasn’t been any information about the extent of destruction.
Several hours later, Russia hit an open area near the Zavadske village with another bomb.
At 8:10 p.m., two glide bombs struck the Zolochiv community again. One hit the Stohnii village, and the other hit the outskirts of Kovali village, damaging four houses, outbuildings, and power lines.
At 2:18 p.m., Russia hit the community for the fourth time. A glide bomb hit the Turove village, damaging two households, power lines, and a power transformer. There has been a power and cellular connection shutdown.
No casualties have been reported from any of the four attacks.
The Zolochiv community is located northwest of the Kharkiv region, next to the border with Russia, about ~36 kilometers (22 miles) from Kharkiv.
