UKRAINE, Sep. 22 — Russian army recruits mercenaries from abroad and socially vulnerable people, promising them documents and money, said Ukraine’s 10th army corps.

On Sep. 19, Ukrainian Pravda said, referring to their source in special services, that Russia, in cooperation with Iran, has been actively recruiting mercenaries from the Middle East to participate in Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The recruitment efforts primarily target people from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, and other countries in the region.

The corps said that Russian recruits lack proper training and are immediately sent to the frontline.

Sajad, a captured soldier from Iraq, said that he agreed to serve in the Russian army to get a Russian passport to move to Europe later.

Another captured soldier with the call sign Casper is a Russian, and he mobilized in May this year because of his debts.

Earlier, the 57th Motorized Brigade said that they captured a Kenyan citizen on the Vovchansk axis. Russians probably tricked him into joining the army.
