UKRAINE, Jun 3 — Over May, Russian forces seized 449 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, and it is the worst indicator in 2025, said the analytical OSINT project DeepState that maintains an online war monitoring map.

“Unfortunately, the dynamic of territorial losses crossed the limit of 200 square kilometers per month, which lasted since February,” said the team in the statement.

The Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka route is the area where Russia occupied the most land during May: nearly 200 square kilometers. In Sumy Oblast, Russian forces advanced for at least 110 square kilometers, which amounts to 70% of all territory losses.

DeepState also recorded Russian advances for 45-50 square kilometers near the border of the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In the Lyman direction, Russian forces paused for a while, their assaults occupying only 28 square kilometers over the last month.

In Kharkiv Oblast, over May, Russian forces advanced near Tykhe village in the Vovchansk community and Kamianka village in the Kupiansk community.

On the first days of June, Russian forces conducted 23 attacks on Ukrainian positions in Kharkiv Oblast, said the General Staff.

On June 1, Russia attacked the villages of Fyholivka, Hlyboke, and Krasne Pershe on the Kharkiv axis and Pishchane, Stepova Novoselivka, and Zahryzove on the Kupiansk axis.

O June 2, the General Staff recorded attacks near Vovchansk and Dovhenke settlements on the Kharkiv axis and Zapadne, Zelenyi Hai, Pishchane, Stepova Novoselivka, and Zahryzove settlements on the Kupiansk axis.
