UKRAINE, POLTAVA OBLAST, Oct. 20 — Russians used a glide bomb with a control and correction module, powered by probably in modification with a jet engine, for the first time to attack the Poltava region, the OSINT monitoring group reported.

Russia launched the bomb from the territory of the Belgorod region of Russia — the distance between the two regions is over 120 kilometers (75 miles).

Spartak Borysenko, head of management of Kharkiv Prosecutor’s Office, told Gwara Media that the Russian modified glide bomb is based on the high-explosive aerial bomb (FAB-500). To that, Russians added a tail section and a jet-powered engine.

“We are currently investigating what exactly was added to this aerial bomb, what control system it has, and so on. This will allow us to talk about its characteristics in more detail,” Borysenko said.

He said that this bomb is faster than other modifications that do not have a jet engine. The speed of ordinary glide bombs depends on the speed of the aircraft that launched them. Then, they fly by inertia, and their speed decreases.

“So here (in a jet-powered glide bomb) the engine is already installed, and we are still investigating what its capacity is,” said Borysenko.

He also said that the Prosecutor’s office records cases of the use of this type of aerial bomb throughout Ukraine.

On Oct. 16, Russian forces tried the jet type glide bomb in Mykolaiv for the first time, said Stanislav Buniatov, the junior sergeant of Aidar Battalion.

On Oct. 18, Russian forces conducted the third attack with jet-powered glide bombs on Lozova. The attack destroyed a house, injuring five people.
