UKRAINE, KUPINASK DISTRICT, Oct. 21 — Policemen of the special unit Bilyi Yangol (“White angel” from Ukrainian), cooperating with volunteers of the Humanitarian Coordination Center, evacuated an 80-year-old man from the village of Osynovo in the Kupiansk district, reported Kharkiv regional police.
The village of Osynovo is located 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Kupinask, where Russia is now expanding its foothold. Russia is attempting to occupy the city and seize Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, the city south of Kupinask, to gain access to the local railway hub.
“Getting to the village is not easy. The roads there are under fire, and the sky above these territories is almost never quiet: the enemy constantly uses glide bombs and drones, attacking residential areas,” Kharkiv regional police says.
Police said the rescue team approached the elderly man because he couldn’t evacuate alone. They helped him pack all the necessary things and drove him to the safe location.
Minutes after the evacuation vehicle left the village, Russian troops launched a glide bomb attack on Osynove, directly on the street where an evacuated man lived, destroying his house.
