UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Feb. 26 — During the night, Russia used 18 drones of the Shahed type and two ballistic missiles to attack Kharkiv, reported Ihor Terekhov, mayor of the city, live on national TV. Kharkiv State Emergency Services’ press secretary, Yevhen Vasylenko, told Gwara Media that Russian attacks injured 16 people, including two children, aged 7 and 13. 

Gwara’s journalists heard the first explosions at about 3:40 a.m. The attack lasted for over an hour. Across Ukraine, Russian troops launched over 420 drones and 39 missiles of various types, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They targeted gas, energy, railway, and civilian infrastructure. 

Local authorities reported on Russian ballistics and Shaheds hitting Kyivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the city, damaging apartment buildings, houses, electricity networks, and a gas pipeline. 

In Shevchenkivskyi district, a Russian airstrike hit a multi-apartment building. In Saltivskyi district, attacks destroyed a house, starting a fire. The fire also followed the attack in the Slobidskyi district. 

Overall, Kharkiv city council recorded damage to civilian infrastructure at 12 locations in five districts of the city.
