UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, LYMAN, Dec. 31 — A Russian soldier asked Ukrainian troops to take him into captivity in the Lyman settlement of the Kharkiv oblast, reported the 16th army corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

Pilots of one of the units of the “Volia” battalion found a Russian soldier who had made a cupboard sign saying, “Please, take me into captivity, I want to live.” 

“Ukrainian warriors fulfilled this New Year wish,” the 16th army corps wrote. 

Pilots provided a Russian soldier with detailed instructions on how to surrender (and where to walk — ed.).
