UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul 29 — Sabotage reconnaissance groups (SRG) entered settlements near Kupiansk, the largest city east of the Kharkiv region, but there’s no SRG in Kupiansk itself, said Andrii Kanashevych, the head of the military administration of Kupiansk district, to Suspilne.
The Kupiansk community has been one of the primary targets of the Russian army since the start of a full-scale invasion because of the logistics and transportation importance.
Kanashevych said that they detected SRG in Radkivka and Myrne villages.
“Myrne is actually Kupiansk, and there is no border between the city and the village. So, SRG activity is probable. Ukrainian forces are ready to repel the attacks. We hope that the enemy will not be able to advance a single meter further,” he said.
Kanashevych added that there are still nearly 4,700 people in Kupiansk and Kindrashivka communities that are close to the frontline.
In July 2025, Russian forces conducted thousands of attacks on Kupiansk and the nearest settlements.
Andrii Besedin, the head of the Kupiansk military administration, said that the city tries to protect what’s left of its critical infrastructure after these attacks.
