UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jun 30 — At night, Russian forces attacked five settlements in Kharkiv Oblast, killing two, injuring eight people, and damaging civilian infrastructure, said Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv Oblast.
Our journalists visited Pisochyn and Derhachi, two settlements in Kharkiv district, to document the consequences of the Russian attack.
In Pisochyn, a Russian attack injured eight people, including a child, and damaged a car service station, nearby houses, outbuildings, and cars.
“We were already asleep. Then came the sound — and right after the explosions. It was terrible,” said Oksana, a local whose house was hit.
Oksana was at home with her family during the Russian attack. None of them were injured, but the blast shattered their windows and damaged the roof.
“We are planning to stay here, but now, every time the Shaheds fly, I think they will fall here again,” said Oksana.
“There was a loud buzz and banging. Then the plaster fell on the bed. I rolled off the bed onto the floor and ran into the hallway. I started to wake my husband, but he did not understand the situation at all; he was stressed,” said Antonina, another resident of the damaged house.
Antonina said that it wasn’t the first time that Russians had attacked her apartment building. In 2023, the house was affected by a Russian strike. The residents received materials and restored the roof at their own expense.
This time, the Russian drones destroyed a wall in Antonina’s apartment.
In Derhachi, Russian forces hit the food storage with seven drones, said Viacheslav Zadorenko, the head of the Derhachi military administration.
Zadorenko also noted that the Russian attack damaged houses, cars, and administrative buildings, including local departments of the Pension Fund, State Treasury Service, and the library.
There were no casualties.
Overnight, Russian forces attacked Kupiansk, a city south of Kharkiv, and Vilkhuvatka, a village in the Kupiansk district, killing two and injuring two people.
Russians also damaged a sanatorium building in Kurortne, a village in the Chuhuiv district.
