UKRAINE, KYIV, Jun 30 — On June 30, new German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul arrived in Kyiv to show support for Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion, reported Deutsche Welle.

Wadephul posted a video on X, saying that this is his first visit to Ukraine in this capacity. He’s been Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs since May 6.

“Yes, good evening from the train heading to Kyiv. A long train ride to a country that has once again been hit by the scourge of war,” Wadephul said in the video.

In a statement made upon arrival, Wadephul said that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin wants to conquer and subjugate Ukraine at any price.

“We will continue to stand firmly by Ukraine’s side so that it can continue to defend itself successfully — with modern air defense and other weapons, with humanitarian and economic aid,” Wadephul added.

Earlier, Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, said that Germany will expand military help for Ukraine during the press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president, in Berlin.
